Gaga Wildlife Sanctuary

About the Sanctuary: Established as a wildlife sanctuary in November 1988, the Gaga Wildlife Sanctuary is a haven for a wide array of bird species, making it one of the rare locations where numerous important birds can be found. During the winter months, the sanctuary becomes a bustling site for migratory birds, attracting pelicans, spot-billed ducks, flamingos, demoiselle cranes, and common cranes. Additionally, it provides refuge to rare and endangered species such as the Houbara Bustard and the Indian Wolf. The sanctuary boasts a rich biodiversity that includes 12 species of mammals, eight species of reptiles, and 88 species of birds. Invertebrates are also well-represented, with various butterflies, moths, honeybees, wasps, spiders, and termites adding to the sanctuary’s ecological diversity.
